Pierre Grand

Senior Advisor, Europe Office at Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Pierre Grand is the senior advisor, Europe Office. In this capacity, he supports the development of the foundation’s newly opened Berlin office in areas ranging from government relations, partnership management, and general managerial support.

Prior to this role, Pierre was the chief of staff for the foundation’s Global Development division, also overseeing the Multilateral Partnership and Emergency Response teams.

Pierre joined the foundation in 2010 as the business officer in the Global Health Discovery group. In 2011, he became the deputy director, Strategy Planning and Management for the Family Health division. From 2013 to 2015, Pierre was seconded to the World Health Organization where he was responsible for managing and ensuring the integrity of the financial and human resources data for the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI).

Prior to joining the foundation, Pierre was with Hewlett Packard where he has served in various management capacities since 1992, including Business Development, Strategy Planning, Sales & Marketing Operations and Product Engineering.

Pierre received a master’s in electrical engineering from Ecole Centrale de Lyon, and a MBA from the University of California, Los Angeles.
