Karen Ward has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Karen is currently working as a Regulatory Document Compliance Manager at the Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute since July 2020. Before this, they worked at Advanced Clinical from October 2018 to July 2020 as a Nonclinical Scientific Writer/Editor at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals. In this role, they collaborated with scientists on various nonclinical regulatory documents and performed quality control reviews.
Prior to that, Karen had a long tenure at Pfizer where they held multiple roles. From July 2016 to April 2018, they worked as a Principal Scientist, overseeing pharmaceutical science research projects and acting as a program manager. Karen also played a key role in achieving PHS accreditation for the Pfizer Kendall Square site. From July 2006 to July 2016, they served as a Senior Scientist, focusing on community outreach, training, and assay development.
Earlier in their career at Pfizer, Karen worked as a Scientist from July 2003 to July 2006, managing assay development and evaluation for schizophrenia programs. Karen also participated in training colleagues on proprietary data analysis software. From July 1998 to July 2003, they held the role of Associate Scientist, and from July 1993 to July 1998, they were an Assistant Scientist. Karen began their career as a Laboratory Assistant VI at Pfizer from July 1992 to July 1993.
Before joining Pfizer, they worked as a Laboratory Manager at Trinity College from June 1991 to June 1992.
Karen Ward completed a Graduate Certificate in Biopharmaceutical Domestic Regulatory Affairs from Northeastern University from 2018 to 2020. Prior to that, they pursued a Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit/Public/Organizational Management from Northeastern University from 2017 to 2018. Karen obtained their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Psychobiology (Neuroscience) from Trinity College-Hartford from 1988 to 1991.
