Kayla Andrews

Scientific Program Leader, Translational Discovery at Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute

Kayla Andrews has a diverse work experience in the healthcare and research fields. Kayla started their career at Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center as a Molecular Pharmacology & Cancer Therapeutics Summer Fellow in 2010. Kayla then worked as an Oncology Pharmacy Clerkship at Cleveland Clinic in 2014. In 2015, they joined ExamWorks Clinical Solutions as a Clinical Pharmacist and Head of Clinical Research. After that, they worked as a Staff Pharmacist at RITE AID. In 2015, they also joined Cognigen Corporation as an Assistant Director and later became an Associate Director in 2017. During their time at Cognigen Corporation, they consulted for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation and helped develop a pharmacometrics communication platform. In 2016, they joined the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as a Quantitative Sciences Team Member, where they worked until 2018. Starting in 2018, they joined the Bill & Melinda Gates Medical Research Institute as a Discovery Scientist and was later promoted to a Scientific Program Leader, Translational Discovery in 2019.

Kayla Andrews holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences with a specialization in Population PK/PD Modeling & Simulation from the University at Buffalo Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Kayla also completed a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree and a Master of Science (MS) degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the same institution.
