Maria Sevdali

Maria Sevdali, PhD has a diverse work experience. Maria currently serves as the Director of Business Development at Bio-Techne since September 2023. Previously, they worked at Bio-Rad Laboratories where they held multiple roles, including Associate Director Corporate Development, Life Sciences and Senior Corporate Development Manager, Digital Biology & Life Sciences. Maria was responsible for identifying and managing strategic opportunities, negotiating license agreements, and overseeing key partnerships. Prior to that, they worked at Personal Genome Diagnostics as an Oncology Science Liaison / Sales representative, bridging healthcare providers and researchers to cancer genomics technologies. Maria also held various roles at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, including Postdoctoral Research Fellow and Vice President of the Johns Hopkins Postdoc Association. Maria had an educational background in Molecular Biology and Genetics, obtaining their Ph.D. from the University of York, England, UK. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Research Technician at the University of Aberdeen. Additionally, they had a temporary role as a Communications Venue Assistant at the Athens 2004 Olympic Games.

Maria Sevdali, PhD has a diverse education history. Maria began their academic journey at the University of Aberdeen, where they completed their undergraduate studies and obtained a BSc degree in Biotechnology from 2001 to 2005. Maria then pursued a higher level of education at the University of York, where they earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Molecular Biology and Genetics from 2005 to 2009. Following this, Maria Sevdali continued to expand their knowledge and expertise by becoming a Postdoctoral Fellow in Molecular Biology and Genetics at The Johns Hopkins University from 2009 to 2015. In 2018, they enrolled in UC Berkeley Extension to study Financial Accounting. Furthermore, they enhanced their proficiency in finance by completing a course in Corporate Financial Modeling at UC Berkeley Extension in 2023. Additionally, Maria Sevdali obtained a certification in the Program on Negotiation from Harvard Law School in 2022.
