Biobank of Eastern Finland
Hanna Kujala is a seasoned research professional with extensive experience in biobank management and project coordination. Since January 2015, Hanna has served as a Research Coordinator at the Biobank of Eastern Finland. Prior roles include Project Manager for FINBB from August 2021 to December 2022 and Project Manager for the Kuopio Biobank Project at the University of Eastern Finland from July 1999 to December 2014. Additionally, Hanna has held positions as a Postdoctoral Researcher and Researcher at the University of Eastern Finland. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) and a Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Biochemistry, both obtained from the University of Eastern Finland.

Biobank of Eastern Finland
The population in Eastern Finland in highly homogenous due to founder effect, geographic and historical barriers and low migration. This makes our biobank’s sample collection unique. The Biobank of Eastern Finland is a hospital biobank located at the Kuopio University Hospital. Our biobank is owned by the North Savo Hospital District, the South Savo Social and Health Care Authority, Siun Sote – the Joint Municipal Authority for North Karelia Social and Health Services, the Eastern Savo Hospital District, and the University of Eastern Finland.
