Cally Zanarini

Associate Director Manufacturing Operations at BioFactura

Cally Zanarini has a strong background in biopharmaceutical manufacturing and operations. Cally began their career at Virginia Tech as a research assistant from January 2009 to May 2010. Cally then joined Human Genome Sciences as a Manufacturing Associate III from June 2010 to January 2013. At GSK, Cally worked as a Senior Biopharm Manufacturing Associate from January 2013 to June 2014, where they performed purification processes and made process changes. Cally also worked as a Utility Engineer at GSK from June 2014 to September 2019, where they designed and started up utility systems for bio pharmaceutical plants.

In 2019, Cally joined BioFactura, Inc. as a Senior Bioprocess Engineer, where they were responsible for the manufacturing purification of monoclonal antibodies for Phase 1 drugs. Cally worked on technology transfer and scale-up, primarily using single-use technology. Later, they became the Manager of Downstream Manufacturing Operations, overseeing the purification manufacturing and tech transfer from PD to Phase 1 manufacturing. Currently, they hold the role of Associate Director of Manufacturing Operations at BioFactura, managing the cell culture and purification teams for biopharmaceuticals and contributing to the development of pre-clinical through Phase 1 antibodies.

Cally Zanarini completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Systems Engineering at Virginia Tech from 2005 to 2010. In addition, they pursued further studies in Bio Engineering at University College Dublin from 2007 to 2008. Cally Zanarini also holds a certification in Yellow Belt but the institution, month, and year of obtaining this certification are not provided.
