Sebastian Håkansson

Director Of Process Development at BioGaia

Sebastian Håkansson has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and organizations. Sebastian is currently serving as the Director of Process Development at BioGaia AB since 2018. In addition, they are an Adjunct Professor at Lund University starting from 2021. Previously, Sebastian worked as an Associate Professor at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) from 2003 to 2020. Sebastian also co-founded CaptiGel AB in 2009 and served as a board member until 2017. Sebastian was the Leading Partner for the Seventh Framework programme (FP7) from 2008 to 2012, where they led the BACSIN project focusing on environmental pollutant remediation. Sebastian also worked as a Programme Manager for the MISTRA programme DOM from 2010 to 2011. Prior to that, Sebastian held the position of Assistant Professor at Umeå University from 1999 to 2003.

Sebastian Håkansson obtained their Bachelor's degree in Microbiology from Umeå University, which they attended from 1986 to 1989. Sebastian then pursued further education and received their Ph.D. in Microbial Pathogenesis from Umeå University, where they studied from 1990 to 1995. Following their doctoral studies, Sebastian pursued a Post-doc position in Parasitology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, which they held from 1996 to 1999.
