Steven Ambrose Wesel possesses extensive expertise in upstream process development within the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Currently serving as Director of Upstream Process Development at Forge Biologics, Steven has successfully built a department, developed scalable upstream platform processes, and executed multiple client programs. Previous roles include key positions at Abeona Therapeutics Inc., WuXi AppTec, and Gilead Sciences, where Steven led significant projects in cell culture and gene therapy, contributing to clinical production readiness and process development documentation. With an academic foundation in Chemical-Biological Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, a Master of Engineering from Lehigh University, and ongoing MBA studies at the University of North Dakota, Steven combines technical acumen with management capabilities.
