Andy Gerschutz

Andy Gerschutz has a solid work experience in the legal field, primarily focusing on intellectual property. From 2009 to 2014, they worked as a Patent Attorney at Moore & Van Allen, PLLC. Andy then joined Duke Office of Licensing and Ventures as an Intern for a few months in 2009. In 2014, they began their career at bioMérieux, where they held various roles. Andy started as a Patent Counsel, responsible for drafting and prosecuting patent applications. From 2018 to 2022, they served as the Senior Patent Counsel, where they provided intellectual property support for product lines, including conducting freedom-to-operate studies and drafting, negotiating, and advising on various legal agreements. Later, they became the Senior Corporate Counsel for a few months before transitioning to their current role as the Senior Director & General Counsel Global R&D/Medical Affairs, which they have been holding since July 2022.

Andy Gerschutz holds a J.D. degree in Law from Duke University School of Law, which they earned from 2006 to 2009. Andy also has a M.S. degree in Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, which they obtained from 2000 to 2005. Additionally, they hold a B.S. degree in Botany from Miami University, where they studied from 1995 to 1999.
