Ugur Sahin

Ugur Sahin is a distinguished academic and entrepreneur in the fields of translational oncology and immunology. As a Professor at the University Medical Center Mainz since 2001, Ugur has held various leadership positions, enhancing the institution's research capabilities. In 2008, Ugur co-founded BioNTech SE and currently serves as Chief Executive Officer, significantly contributing to the advancement of biopharmaceuticals. Ugur was also instrumental as Co-Founder and Managing Director of TRON-Translational Oncology from 2010 to 2019 and served as Co-Founder and Head of the Scientific Advisory Board at GANYMED Pharmaceuticals AG until 2016. Earlier positions include a role as Visiting Scientist at Universitätsspital Zürich and extensive experience as a physician and scientist at Saarland University Medical Center and Uniklinik Köln. Ugur earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Cologne between 1984 and 1990.
