Hans studied organic chemistry at the University of Konstanz, Germany, specialising in carbohydrates, glycoscience and synthesis. Following time as a visiting scientist at Weizmann Institute of Science, Rehovot, Israel, Hans returned to Konstanz as a Research Fellow looking at carbohydrates and carbohydrate binding proteins.
Hans moved to the UK in 2004, taking up the position of Lecturer in Chemistry and Chemical Biology at the University of Sussex for 8 years. Following this, he moved into consultancy, offering a wealth of experience in organic synthesis and carbohydrate chemistry. Hans then joined Biosynth Carbosynth as a Senior Scientific Advisor, working with project teams to provide expert advice on synthetic approaches and intellectual property considerations. He is also active in writing a range of technical marketing materials, mainly in the field of glycoscience.
Hans is interested in the design, promotion and execution of teaching and research projects within the Life Sciences. He remains active across the latest developments in research and in the projects happening in Biosynth Carbosynth labs.
