Cherie Walker

Cherie Walker has extensive work experience in the field of clinical laboratory science. Cherie currently holds the position of Clinical Laboratory Scientist II at Biotheranostics, Inc. where they perform RNA extraction and molecular testing on FFPE samples, as well as macro-dissection of FFPE tissue.

Prior to their current role, Cherie worked at DermTech as a Clinical Molecular Biologist, where they conducted nucleic acid extraction methods for Melanoma testing and performed laboratory testing on clinical samples using qPCR and Sanger Sequencing laboratory developed tests. Cherie also held the position of Molecular Technologist at DermTech.

Cherie's previous experience includes working at Genoptix, A Novartis Company as a Clinical Genetic Molecular Biologist, where they performed and analyzed various molecular assays for hematopathology, including rtPCR, sequencing, fragment analysis, and Next Generation Sequencing. Cherie also performed DNA and RNA isolation from blood, bone marrow, and FFPE samples.

Earlier in their career, Cherie worked at Genoptix, a Novartis Company as a pre-analytical Clinical Lab Technician, providing laboratory support and handling various tasks related to specimen labeling, handling, preservation, processing, and transportation.

Cherie's work history also includes a role as an Assistant Manager at Pet Stop, where they educated customers about pet products and managed inventory, and a position in the United States Marine Corps as a Work Center Supervisor and Ordnance Technician, where they supervised and mentored employees and managed maintenance operations for aircraft and weapons.

Overall, Cherie Walker has a strong background in molecular testing, laboratory operations, and specimen handling, with experience in both the private and military sectors.

Cherie Walker completed their education in a chronological order. Cherie started their academic journey at San Diego Miramar College in 2009 and graduated with an Associate of Science (A.S.) degree in Biological Studies in 2010. Following that, Cherie enrolled at UC San Diego in 2010 and earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Pharmacological Chemistry in 2012.

In addition to their formal education, Cherie obtained the Lean Six Sigma Foundation training certification from Genoptix, a Novartis Company, in March 2014.
