Joern Klinger

Joern Klinger has a diverse work experience spanning different industries and roles. Joern is currently the CEO of biotx.ai since January 2019, and previously served as the Co-CEO and CTO starting from September 2017. Prior to this, Joern worked as a Data Science Manager at TRAQ from November 2015 to April 2016, where they focused on measuring brand attractiveness through social media and web user behavior. Joern also worked as a Data Scientist at S2DS in August 2015, focusing on leveraging big data for various services at Royal Mail.

Before transitioning into the data science field, Joern worked at The University of Texas at Austin starting from September 2014 to August 2015. During this time, they held multiple positions, including Information Science Project Researcher and Lab Manager and Researcher. Joern also worked as a Teaching Assistant from September 2012 to May 2014. At the university, Joern led the Field Lab in Santa Lucía Teotepec, Oaxaca, Mexico and managed the Child Language Lab. Joern conducted behavioral experiments, analyzed data, programmed, managed teams, and mentored students. Their efforts resulted in publications in leading journals and invited talks at top universities.

Joern's early career includes working as a Masters Student at the Max Planck Institute for Evolutionary Anthropology from January 2008 to June 2009. Here, they conducted their MA thesis study, assisted other researchers, recruited participants, edited videos, and coded data.

Joern Klinger pursued their education in the field of Linguistics, starting with a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree at Leipzig University from 2004 to 2009. Joern then went on to complete a Master of Science (MSc) in Psychological Research at the University of Oxford in 2010. Continuing their academic journey, Joern earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Linguistics from The University of Texas at Austin, which they completed from 2010 to 2015. Furthermore, they obtained a certification in S2DS from Pivigo in London in September 2015.
