Michel Pieren

Clinical Program Team Leader at BioVersys

Michel Pieren is currently a Clinical Project Manager at BioVersys. Prior to this, they were Group Leader Drug Discovery at BioVersys AG, where they coordinated national and international research projects in small molecule drug discovery in anti-infective R&D. Michel also directed the BioVersys screening and biochemistry research to support HIT to LEAD development, and established networks of external collaborations and outsourcing strategies to optimize HIT to LEAD to pre-clinical candidate development. One of the discovery projects was awarded with a CARB-X grant.

Before their time at BioVersys AG, Michel Pieren was Lab Head Screening & Biochemistry at BioVersys AG, where they designed and set up a technology platform composed of biochemical and cellular assays for the screening and characterization of small molecular weight compounds (TRIC technology) for Gram-negative and Gram-positive ESKAPE pathogens. Michel also supervised scientific personnel, grant writing and reporting during their time there.

Michel Pieren began their career as a Chargé de cours / Lecturer at the University of Lausanne in February 2009. Michel held this position until September 2010.

Michel Pieren studied at the ETH Zürich, where they received a certificate for teaching ability in chemistry, a doctorate in natural sciences in biochemistry, cell biology, structural biology and molecular biology, and a diploma in national economics in biochemistry. Michel then attended the Kantonsschule Baden, where they completed their matura (secondary school graduation).
