Michael De Vivo has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. Michael is currently serving as the Vice President of Neuroscience at BioXcel Therapeutics Inc. since June 2018. Prior to that, they worked at Pfizer Pharmaceuticals for eight years, starting in July 2010, where they held the position of Director, Translational Medicine in Neuroscience until April 2018.
Before joining Pfizer, De Vivo was the Vice President of Neurobiology at Memory Pharmaceuticals from an unknown start date until May 2009. Michael also had a significant role at Trophix Pharmaceuticals, where they were a Group Leader from June 1994 to June 1999. In this position, they supervised a team of four scientists and was responsible for designing and implementing cell-based assays for ion channels and transporters.
De Vivo's career in academia began at Mount Sinai School of Medicine, where they were an Assistant Professor from an unknown start date until 1994. During this time, they received an Aaron Diamond Fellowship to support their research and conducted studies on GPCR and MAP-kinase signaling pathways. Michael also taught pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics to medical and graduate students.
De Vivo's career journey started in the United States Peace Corps, where they served as a Peace Corps Volunteer from September 1978 to September 1980.
Michael De Vivo completed their education in the following chronological order:
- From 1974 to 1978, they attended Rutgers University and received a B.A. degree in Chemistry.
- Michael then pursued further education at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai from 1981 to 1986. During this time, they obtained a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences.
- Lastly, from 1986 to 1989, they attended Cornell University Medical College as a Post-Doctoral Fellow, specializing in Cell Signaling.
