Matthew Davies

Matthew Davies is an accomplished academic and administrator, currently serving as the Executive Dean of Humanities and Social Sciences at Birkbeck, University of London since September 2016, where responsibilities include strategic planning, management, and leadership of the Faculty. Previously, Matthew held the role of Executive Dean for the School of Social Sciences, History and Philosophy at the School of Advanced Study, University of London, along with a tenure as Professor of Urban History and Pro-Dean for Law and Philosophy. Matthew's extensive experience also includes serving as Director of the Centre for Metropolitan History at the Institute of Historical Research, focusing on research project management and grant-raising, and as Senior Research Fellow at the History of Parliament Trust. Academically, Matthew earned a DPhil in Medieval History from the University of Oxford and a BA in Modern History from Corpus Christi College, Oxford.
