The Role

Bitstrapped is seeking a hands-on Senior Data Engineer, who is self-motivated and goal-oriented to work on the data platform team and join our talented Google Cloud experts to deliver client projects successfully.

The Data Engineer will be highly involved in the design, programming, and implementation of data and database components and serve as a hands-on consultant to our customers. The Data Engineer will work mostly on Google Cloud, interacting with Cloud platforms such as AWS or Microsoft Azure.

The candidate will:

• Execute projects through design, implementation, automation, and maintenance of large-scale enterprise ETL processes for our clients

• Experience in technical project management, following project plans, and executing on milestones.

• Skilled at balancing a few projects and differing project priorities

• Develop repeatable and scalable code that processes client data in an automated and efficient manner to ensure data availability in the platform is as real-time as possible

• Experience with data security, testing, and hardening of databases for cloud-based SaaS solutions.

• Strong understanding of deployments of applications in the Cloud

• Act as an expert data resource within the team

• Hands-on experience with SQL, PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL, object storage, images processing.

• Skilled with one or many CI/CD tools such as Github, Jenkins, CircleCI, Bitbucket, and additional DevOps Technologies

• Strong written and verbal communication skills

• Strong English, quantitative, technical, and communication (oral/written) skills; is an excellent listener

Minimum Requirements

• Proficiency in at least one programming language (This is a must)

• 5+ years experience as a data engineer or software engineer in a professional environment

• 5+ years of experience with data ingestion, batch, stream, processing, ETL, and sinks/taps

• Strong database knowledge and scaling applications with scalable data storage

• Ability to architect, develop, and test code at an enterprise level, adhering to software engineering best practices

• Ability to design data models with a strong understanding of modeling design patterns

• Has knowledge and experience working on distributed systems (monitoring, alerting, message contracts)

• Cloud GCP - GCP Data Engineer certification preferred

• Experience with Knowledge of Azure/AWS
