Founded in 1977, Bitumar Inc. is a privately owned company specializing in the production of liquid bitumen used in asphalt blends for road paving as well as for the roofing industry. Bitumar owns and operates two plants in Montreal, QC. The company also owns plants in Baltimore, MD, through its affiliate Baltimore U.S.A. and in Hamilton, ON, through its affiliate Bitumar (Hamilton) Inc. Bitumar U.S.A. has also asphalt terminals located in Providence (Rhode Island), South Portland (Maine) and Portland (Connecticut). Bitumar's expansion in the New England market will complement its existing facilities. Radiating from these 3 centers of production, the company offers many different converted asphalt grades for paving as well as for roofing, covering eastern Canada and the North East, Mid-West and Mid-Atlantic coast in the United States and now in New England. Bitumar is a member of the Association des maîtres couvreurs, the l'association technique canadienne du bitume, the Ontairo Hot Mix Producers Association (OHMPA), the Asphalt Institute (AI), the Asphalt Roofing Manufacturers Association (ARMA), the NRCA, the National Asphalt Pavement Association (NAPA), Bitume Québec and ORBA.
