Emma Black

Chief Operating Officer, Co-founder at Black Box Co

Emma Black has a diverse work experience in the agriculture industry. Emma is currently the Chief Operations Officer (COO) and Co-founder of Black Box Co since 2020. Prior to that, they worked as a Guest Lecturer at Marcus Oldham College starting in 2016. Emma is also a Member of the Platinum Primary Producer Group (PPP), where they attend annual conferences to network and share knowledge with agri-professionals. Emma served as a Committee Member Next Generation at Beef Australia from 2020 to 2021. From 2011 to 2020, Emma worked as an Extension Officer (Beef) at the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries (Queensland), where they provided assistance to beef producers in various aspects of their business. Emma also coached the Australian National Intercollegiate Meat Judging Team and trained with them in the United States. Emma has previous experience as an MLA Graduate Program Trainee Abattoir Manager at Teys Australia and as an Animal Nutrition Consultant at Coleman Stock Feeds.

Emma Black started their education at Downlands College, where they received their Year 12 Certificate in 2004. Emma then went on to the University of New England (AU) and completed their Bachelor of Livestock Science, specializing in Animal Health and Nutrition, from 2005 to 2008. Later, in 2010 to 2011, Emma pursued a Graduate Certificate in Rural Science with a focus on Agricultural Consulting from the same university. In 2012 to 2013, they attended TAFE and obtained a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. In 2015, Emma attended Marcus Oldham College and completed a Graduate Certificate in Agribusiness from 2015 to 2017. Emma also participated in the Rabobank Farm Managers Program in 2016. Most recently, from 2020 to 2022, Emma studied at James Cook University and earned their Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in Global studies.
