Crystal Matson

Crystal Matson is an experienced legal professional currently serving as Senior Counsel for the Metropolitan Transportation Commission since February 2024, focusing on employee discipline and compliance standards. As Chair of the Board of Directors for the Black Cultural Zone since November 2019, Crystal drives community development initiatives. Previous roles include Attorney at BART, where Crystal provided legal advice and negotiated contracts, and President & CEO of the Oakland African American Chamber of Commerce, where membership and revenue significantly increased. Crystal's legal career also includes positions as Staff Attorney at the Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Risk Management Consultant at The Clorox Company. Crystal holds a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Golden Gate University School of Law and a B.A. in Sociology and Political Science from Spelman College.
