Femi Bola

Femi Bola is a British entrepreneur and business executive who has been involved in various businesses and organizations throughout their career. Femi is currently the Secretary at Black Training & Enterprise Group, a position they have held since 2017. Prior to that, they served as the Director of Employability at the University of East London from 2004 to 2017.

Born in London, Bola grew up in a working-class family of Nigerian immigrants. Femi attended the local primary school and then went on to study business administration at the University of East London. After graduating, they began their career in the marketing department of a large corporation. Femi soon left that position to set up their own marketing consultancy.

In 2004, Bola was approached by the University of East London to take on the role of Director of Employability. In this role, they were responsible for helping UEL students secure graduate-level employment and for raising awareness of the benefits of recruiting from a diverse student body among employers. Femi led a team of 26 staff and was instrumental in securing internships and other opportunities for UEL students.

During their time at UEL, Bola was also active in promoting diversity in the workplace more broadly. Femi sat on the advisory board for the Office for Fair Access from 2013 to 2018 and was a professional reviewer for the development of inclusive training materials for MyEmployabilityLab and Pearsons Education. In 2012, they were awarded an MBE for their services to diversity.

Femi Bola has a background in mediation and dispute resolution, with a certificate in training from Goldsmiths, University of London. Femi also holds a BSc in Modular Science with a major in Biochemistry from the University of Westminster. In addition, they have a certification from Advance HE in National Teaching Fellowship.
