Claire Newton

Director, Private Client at Blackadders

Claire joined the firm as an Associate Solicitor in October 2015 and was appointed Director of Executry Services in April 2018.

Born and educated in Dundee, Claire graduated from the University of Dundee with a first-class honours degree in law, winning several academic awards during the course of her studies, including the prestigious Dean’s medal and, after successful completion of the Diploma in Legal Practice, she gained the accolade of being named the best student in her year.

A skilled legal practitioner, Claire provides tailored advice to her clients on a range of Private Client related matters including Wills, Powers of Attorney and, primarily, the administration of Executry estates. Her calm and sensitive approach to these matters can be relied upon by individual clients and their families and Claire takes enormous pride in guiding her clients through this difficult time and nurturing and maintaining a lasting relationship with them.

Claire was a tutor on the Diploma in Legal Practice at the University of Dundee from 2016 to 2019 where she taught students on the core element of the Private Client module. She also has involvement in the Diploma in Legal Practice provided by the University of Edinburgh.
