Associate Solicitor, Family Law at Blackadders

Joanne is an Associate Solicitor in the Family Team in Aberdeen. Born and educated in Aberdeen, Joanne obtained an Honours degree in Law from the University of Aberdeen in 2005 and completed her Diploma in Legal Practice in 2006.

Having practised Family Law almost exclusively throughout her career, Joanne is an experienced family lawyer and can advise on a wide variety of Family Law matters including financial issues on divorce and separation, cohabitee claims and issues involving children. She gets a strong sense of satisfaction from helping clients through what is often a difficult and emotionally challenging time for them. She has demonstrated a diligent and thorough approach when representing those in need of a family lawyer and is known for her straightforward, down to earth and sensible manner.

Joanne appears regularly in Aberdeen Sheriff Court and has also appeared in a number of courts throughout the North East of Scotland. She has also acted as the instructing solicitor in cases brought at the Court of Session in Edinburgh, Scotland’s supreme court.

As much as Joanne enjoys appearing in court, her preference is always to resolves disputes by negotiation wherever possible thus avoiding the acrimony, uncertainty and additional expense which litigation inevitably brings.

Joanne has served her clients’ interests to her utmost throughout her career and is held in high regard by fellow legal professionals in Aberdeen. She works closely with Gareth Masson and is a valued member of the firm’s Family Law Team.
