Jason Munguia has worked in the scientific field since 2008. Jason began as a Research Associate at the Veterans Medical Research Foundation, where they worked as a lab technician on projects involving Human BST-2 and HIV proteins Vpu & Nef. In 2011, they became a PhD Candidate at the University of California, San Diego, where they studied the genetics and virulence factors of the emerging pathogen Acinetobacter baumannii and the effects of pharmacological modulation of host signalling pathways. From 2018 to 2021, they worked at Forge Therapeutics, Inc. as a Scientist II. In 2021, they joined Blacksmith Medicines as a Sr. Scientist, where they helped perform enzyme and cell based assays to assess small molecule activity for immunology and oncology programs, used CRISPR-cas9 to discover new targets and made knockout cells to validate new targets.
