Marius Ionescu

Marius Ionescu has had a long and varied work experience. Marius began their career in 2005 as a John Wesley Young Research Instructor at Dartmouth College, where they taught classes such as Probability, Calculus, Linear Algebra, Real Analysis, and Functional Analysis. Marius also supervised research done by undergraduate students and introduced the use of slides in math classes. In 2007, they moved to Cornell University as a Visiting Assistant Professor, where they supervised 15+ students as part of the REU program “Analysis on Fractals” and taught courses such as Introduction to Analysis and Analysis for Graduate Students in Engineering, Computer Science, and Physics. In 2008, they moved to the University of Connecticut as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where they collaborated on research topics of common interest and taught eight courses, including Probability and Advanced Probability. Marius also prepared two National Science Foundation grant proposals and presented work at more than ten seminars and conferences. In 2010, they moved to Colgate University as an Assistant Professor, where they taught 13 courses and supervised 100+ research projects in Statistics. Marius also introduced students in Statistics classes to advanced statistical features of Excel and other statistical applications, such as Stata. In 2013, they moved to the University of Maryland as a Visiting Assistant Professor, where they collaborated with faculty and graduate students of the Norbert Wiener Center for Harmonic Analysis and Applications on new research topics and presented work at the University of Maryland, U.S. In 2014, they moved to the United States Naval Academy as an Associate Professor, and in 2017 they became the Chief Scientist & Co-founder of Bleexy. In 2018, they were a Faculty Summer Research at the U.S. Naval Research Laboratory.

Marius Ionescu obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mathematics from the University of Iowa between 1999 and 2005. Prior to this, they obtained a Master's degree in Mathematical Statistics and Probability from the Universitatea Transilvania din Brașov between 1997 and 1998.
