Saigin Govender

Saigin Govender is currently the CTO at Block Renovation. Prior to this, they were at Facebook from January 2020 to December 2022, where they were the Director/Head of Product for AI Research. Saigin was responsible for generating breakthroughs in AI Research and advancing the state of the field, as well as advancing Facebook's suite of product experiences. Govender was also previously the Chief Product & Technology Officer at Tumblr from January 2018 to December 2020, and they were responsible for leading Tumblr's product, data science and engineering organizations. As a member of the Executive Team, they were also responsible for the day-to-day curve balls, organizational matters, and decisions that come with managing a large, complex business. Prior to this role, Govender was Tumblr's CPO, managing its product organization. Before joining Tumblr, Govender was the Vice President of Product Innovation and Excellence at Verizon Media from January 2018 to December 2019. Govender started their career at Amazon, where they were a founding member of the Alexa product team and the head of Alexa News. Saigin was with Amazon from January 2014 to December 2018.

Saigin Govender has a Master of Business Administration from INSEAD and a BASC in Engineering Science - Nanoengineering Major from the University of Toronto.
