Melissa Wright

Melissa Wright serves as Vice Chair and Board Member at Global Fishing Watch since December 2019. Concurrently, Melissa holds the position of Senior Associate on the Environment Team at Bloomberg Philanthropies and serves as a Board Member for Oceans 5 since June 2016. Prior experience includes roles at the Natural Resources Defense Council as Director of the City Energy Project and Senior Advisor for Urban Solutions, as well as Deputy Director of the City Energy Project. Melissa was also an Adjunct Professor at Columbia University’s School of International and Public Affairs. Earlier career roles include Acting Deputy Commissioner at DCAS Energy Management and Chief of Staff at the Department of Citywide Administrative Services. Melissa began as a Policy Advisor at the NYC Mayor's Office of Long-Term Planning and Sustainability and worked as a Development Associate at Greenbelt Alliance. Educational qualifications include a Master of Public Administration in Environmental Policy & Science from Columbia University and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from Oberlin College.
