Digital Portfolio Director at Bloomsbury Publishing

Anna Wright has extensive work experience in the publishing industry. Anna started their career as an Editorial and Production Assistant at Berghahn Books in 2006. Anna then worked as an Assistant Commissioning Editor at Berg Publishers, where they commissioned academic titles in the fields of fashion and anthropology. In 2008, they joined Bloomsbury Publishing (Berg Publishers / Visual Arts Imprints) as a Commissioning Editor, where they were responsible for commissioning a range of academic, trade, and specialist titles in fashion. Anna also managed the editorial aspects of the company's digital fashion program, including the Berg Fashion Library.

In 2012, Anna became a Senior Commissioning Editor at Bloomsbury Publishing, where they were in charge of commissioning high investment projects and managing editors in the Fashion, Photography, and Textiles team. Anna developed excellent relationships with scholars and practitioners in anthropology, cultural history, cultural studies, and sociology. In 2015, they were promoted to Publisher, heading the Fashion and Textiles team at Bloomsbury. In this role, they commissioned interdisciplinary academic and trade crossover books on the history, theory, and culture of dress and fashion.

Anna's career at Bloomsbury continued to progress, and in 2016, they became a Publisher (Digital Resources), responsible for commissioning and developing new resources for the academic market as part of Bloomsbury's digital program. Anna'srole involved collaborating with colleagues to propose new digital product ideas, conducting market research, and creating business and development plans. In 2020, they were promoted to the role of Senior Publisher (Digital Resources), where they continued to shape the vision for digital resources in the humanities and social sciences.

Most recently, Anna joined Bloomsbury Publishing Plc in 2022 as the Digital Portfolio Director. In this position, they are responsible for the strategic direction, editorial development, and commercial success of the company's multi-award-winning Visual Arts and Video digital resources portfolio. Anna'sduties include shaping and communicating the strategic vision for the portfolio and producing strategic plans aligned with market needs and divisional goals.

Anna Wright attended St Thomas More RC Upper School from 1998 to 2001, where they obtained their GSCEs. Anna then attended Sharnbrook Upper School from 2001 to 2003, earning their A-Levels in History, English, and Philosophy, along with an AS-Level in Geography. Later, they pursued their Master's Degree in Modern History at the University of Oxford from 2003 to 2006.
