Sarah Ruddick has a diverse work experience in the publishing industry. Sarah started their career in 2004 as an Events Assistant at CABE. Sarah then worked at Dorling Kindersley from 2005 to 2011, where they held various roles including Global Sales Operations Assistant, Jackets and Sales Materials Co-ordinator, and Editor. From 2011 to 2016, Sarah worked at the National Portrait Gallery as an Editor and later as a Senior Editor, overseeing project management, editing exhibition catalogues and books, and collaborating with curators, authors, and exhibition managers. Since 2017, they have been with Bloomsbury Publishing Plc, initially serving as a Managing Editor and then progressing to the role of Senior Managing Editor. Most recently, they held the position of Head of Editorial Operations (Adult Consumer Publishing) before transitioning to Head of Editorial Operations for both Adult and Children's Publishing.

Sarah Ruddick completed their education at various institutions. From 1993 to 2000, they attended Bishop Stopford School where they pursued A-Levels in French, English Literature, Maths, and Further Maths. Sarah then went on to study at UCL from 2000 to 2004, earning a BA (Hons) degree in French. In 2002 to 2003, they attended Université Jean Moulin (Lyon III) to focus on Lettres Modernes (French Literature and History).
