Shelley King, JD, CHC has a diverse work experience in the legal field. Shelley began their career as a Legal Extern at the United States District Court, where they gained valuable exposure to trials and sentencing hearings. Shelley then worked as a Lobbyist/Associate Director at Gaches, Braden & Associates, Inc., managing a professional society and serving as a registered lobbyist for the firm's clients.

Moving into the public sector, Shelley joined the Kansas Attorney General's Office, Consumer Protection/Antitrust Division as an Assistant Attorney General. In this role, they focused on enforcing trade and consumer protection laws, handling merger investigations and multistate litigation. Shelley also corresponded and negotiated with attorneys representing business entities involved in consumer protection and antitrust matters.

Following their time at the Attorney General's Office, Shelley served as a Staff Attorney/Deputy Chief Counsel at the Kansas Dept. of Administration, Office of Chief Counsel. Shelley'sresponsibilities included contract drafting, civil litigation representation for the State of Kansas, and expertise in various areas such as procurement, payroll, taxation, and human resources.

Shelley then transitioned to the healthcare industry, joining Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas. Shelley held multiple roles at the company, starting as a Regulatory Compliance Analyst, where they assisted with regulatory compliance programs and URAC accreditations. Shelley later became a Corporate Counsel, providing legal advice on HIPAA and data security matters, as well as general corporate governance issues. Shelley further advanced within the organization as a Senior Corporate Counsel, assuming additional managerial responsibilities for the Records Management Program and staff. Finally, Shelley served as the Interim General Counsel, leading all aspects of the legal department during an interim period.

Throughout their career, Shelley has demonstrated expertise in healthcare regulatory matters, including Medicaid and Medicare, HIPAA compliance, and data security. Shelley has also developed strong legal skills in various other areas, such as corporate governance, procurement, and civil litigation.

Shelley King, JD, CHC completed their education in a systematic manner. Shelley first attended Washburn University from 1993 to 1997, where they obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and History. Following this, they continued their studies at Washburn University School of Law from 1997 to 2000, earning their Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree in Law.

Additionally, Shelley King has obtained various certifications to complement their education. In 2014, they became Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) through the Health Care Compliance Association (HCCA). Shelley is also licensed to practice law in Kansas, which they obtained in April 2001, as granted by the Kansas Board of Law Examiners/Kansas Supreme Court.
