Fernanda Jamel is a researcher and PhD student at Universidade de São Paulo, currently investigating carbonate precipitation induced by bacteria and its implications for the evolution of life on Earth and other planetary bodies. As a Visiting Scholar at the Blue Marble Space Institute of Science, supervised by Dr. Milena Popovic, Fernanda studies RNA-mineral interactions related to the origin of life. Fernanda has also served as a Visiting PhD Student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where research focuses on Geomicrobiology. Previous roles include advisory positions and committee membership within Blue Marble Brasil and Minerva Rockets, contributing to the development of microfluidic platforms for biological experiments in microgravity.
