Carlos Segovia has a diverse work experience in the field of data engineering and software development. Carlos started their career in 2016 as a Junior Software Developer at Facultad Politécnica - UNA, where they gained experience in front-end and back-end development using JavaScript and Java. Carlos then worked as a Software Developer at Caja de Jubilaciones - ANDE in 2017, focusing on front-end and back-end development using JavaScript and Java, as well as mobile application development using the Ionic 3 framework.
In 2018, Carlos joined Konecta Software Factory as a Software Developer, where they contributed to the CODE project at the Paraguayan Ministry of Finance, handling front-end and back-end development. Carlos also worked as a Data Engineer at Konecta, specializing in Big Data architectures and designing solutions. During this time, they also gained experience in telecommunication industry projects at Nucleo SA.
In 2021, Carlos transitioned to Applaudo Studios as a Data Engineer. Carlos worked on projects for Walmart and REEF, focusing on designing and developing data processing pipelines using GCP and AWS tools. Carlos specialized in Apache Spark jobs, containerized scraping, and processing real-time data with AWS Lambda and Kinesis.
Currently, Carlos is employed as a Data Engineer at Blue Orange Digital, starting in 2023.
Carlos Segovia attended the Universidad Nacional de Asunción from 2012 to 2020, where they obtained a degree in Computer Science Engineering with a focus on Computer Science. In addition to their formal education, Carlos has also acquired several certifications. In 2022, they obtained the Lightbend Scala Language - Professional certification from Lightbend, Inc. Furthermore, they completed various certifications on Google Cloud Platform through Coursera, including "Applying Machine Learning to your Data with GCP," "Achieving Advanced Insights with BigQuery," "Data Engineering with Google Cloud Specialization," "Essential Google Cloud Infrastructure: Core Services," "From Data to Insights with Google Cloud Platform Specialization," "Preparing for the Google Cloud Professional Data Engineer Exam," "Creating New BigQuery Datasets and Visualizing Insights," "Exploring and Preparing your Data with BigQuery," "Google Cloud Platform Fundamentals: Core Infrastructure," "Smart Analytics, Machine Learning, and AI on GCP," "Building Batch Data Pipelines on GCP," "Building Resilient Streaming Analytics Systems on GCP," "Google Cloud Platform Big Data and Machine Learning Fundamentals," and "Modernizing Data Lakes and Data Warehouses with GCP." Additionally, they obtained the Scrum Foundations Professional Certificate (SFPC) from CertiProf in 2020. Carlos is scheduled to receive the dbt Fundamentals certification from dbt Labs in July 2023.
