Our Associate Project Manager supports the planning and execution of small to large utility-scale solar construction projects. You will work with the Project Manager to oversee the engineering and construction of a project through closeout while interfacing with subcontractors, vendors, and clients. This position is designated as a safety-sensitive position.

This position is 100% travel and offers per diem while working on our project sites. Site states include, but are not limited to: Virginia, Maryland, Michigan, Indiana, Kentucky, North Carolina, and South Carolina.

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist the Project Manager to deliver successful and profitable results.
  • Work with internal teams including project development, engineering, finance, accounting, safety, quality, and commissioning, and external clients to execute projects.
  • Establish, update, and communicate project schedules to internal and external parties.
  • Assist Project Manager with contract negotiations involving SOW, SOVs, budgets, and schedules.
  • Manage all aspects of project documentation including submittals, RFIs, RFPs, and closeout documentation.
  • Manage contract scope and perform change management.
  • Facilitate purchasing and issuance of subcontracts and purchase orders.
  • Represent company/project in meetings with clients, subcontractors, etc.
  • Assist with job cost reports, ACRs, and cash flow forecasting.
  • Enforce project reporting and documentation requirements to internal team members and external subcontractors.
  • Assist Project Manager with coordination of utility requirements, inspections, and operation procedures.
  • Ensure contractors meet company and owner safety and quality standards and regularly conduct safety-related inspections and reporting.
  • Review Design documents for constructability and verify complete and accurate scopes.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts and missing information by preparing, tracking, submitting, and distributing pre-construction RFIs.
  • Oversee and facilitate purchasing and issuance of subcontracts and purchase orders in IFS.
  • Coordinate with O&M to ensure all EPC obligations have been met for a successful O&M turnover.  
  • Develop weekly Project Status Reviews.
  • Support tracking and attendance of FTE Employee to Apprenticeship ratios, as it relates to IRA compliance.
  • Review and analyze project cost and assist cost controller to ensure cost is correctly coded to the correct project and corresponding budgets per project Work Breakdown Structures.
  • Work with project cost controller to prepare Job Cost Adjustment (JCAs) entries to correct miscoded cost. 
  • Evaluate unbudgeted costs and escalate through the change management process. Unbudgeted costs should result in a project cost deviation (internal) or potential change order (external). 
  • Work with company schedulers to prepare necessary schedules to analyze cost components (e.g., Labor, supplies, permanent materials, subcontracts, equipment, etc.). 
  • Analyze historical project cost, change management, schedule, and internal and external risk factors that indicate the financial direction of the project to produce a total estimate at completion forecasts. 
  • Ability to generate and track project costs by using a Project Cost Report.

Must-Haves:

  • 2+ years of experience in commercial building construction.
  • Advanced written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of project scheduling concepts, techniques, and software such as MS-Project, Primavera P6, or other related industry scheduling tools.
  • Working knowledge of MS Office suite, including advanced usage of MS Excel.
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint.
  • Strong work ethic, a high degree of detail orientation, and an extreme sense of urgency.  

Nice-to-Haves:

  • 3+ years of experience in commercial building construction.
  • Proficient in IFS enterprise resource planning software.

Education and Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or business management or 2+ years of experience in commercial building construction required.
  • Must possess and maintain a current valid driver's license required.

Working Environment and Physical Demand:

  • 100% travel, project-based assignment.
  • Must possess reliable transportation. 
  • May require lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk short to long distances for 8-10 hours a day.
  • Individuals in this position work in an outdoor environment and must be able to tolerate all climates.
