Rick Bond is supervisor of grant operations for Blue Shield of California Foundation. He facilitates the Foundation’s grantmaking operations through all stages of the process. Rick is particularly attuned to identifying and implementing workflow improvements that ensure our grants processes are clear, accessible, and efficient.
Rick brings more than 14 years of grants administration and program experience to the Foundation. As a former program officer for the San Francisco Department of Children, Youth and Families, a grants administrator for San Francisco State University’s Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, and more recently as a research process manager for the Stanford University School of Medicine where he coordinated the pre-award grant proposal process for the departments of genetics and pulmonary critical care medicine. Having seen grantmaking from many different vantage points, from direct service to development to funder (both private and government), Rick has a unique diversity of knowledge of the field and ideas that he is excited to share with the Foundation and its grantees.
Rick holds a Bachelor of Arts in liberal studies and a master's degree in English from San Francisco State University.
