Joey Katzen has over 15 years of experience as an entrepreneur and attorney. In 2007, they began their career as an Associate Attorney at Greehan, Taves, Pandak, and Stoner. In 2008, they became a Contributing Blogger for Greater Greater Washington, where they wrote articles and reports about city-building and communities in Arlington and Washington. In 2010, they were hired as the Interim CEO of Roomtag, a cloud-based software company, and led the company through cost rationalization, story building, product development, sales strategy, staff realignments, and fundraising. In 2012, they co-founded KidsLink, Inc., a mobile app and cloud data platform, and served as the Co-founder and Chief Product Officer, helping to set the strategic direction of the company. In 2017, they began working as a Lead Startup Mentor at Blue Startups, offering advice, expertise, and mentorship to early-stage startups, as well as a Startup Storyteller + Pitch Deck Expert. Joey also became an Angel Investor for Hawaii Angels, with past investment exits including NFHS Network/PlayOn! Sports, Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and CodeGuard, and current investments including ShiftMed/HomeCare.com and BeMappy. In 2020, they founded Skinnys Socks, a special type of no-show sock that is extra-thick in the heel area, and became a Strategic Advisor for Surfbreak HNL, a penthouse co-living facility for entrepreneurs, creatives, and global citizens in Hawaii. Joey also runs their own business, Joey Katzen, Esq., providing legal assistance to young companies.

Joey Katzen obtained their JD from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2007, with a field of study in Law. Prior to that, they obtained their BS from the Georgia Institute of Technology in 2003, with a field of study in Industrial Engineering and Literature Media & Communications. Joey is also certified by the Hawaii State Bar Association as a licensed attorney since June 2018, and by the Virginia State Bar as a licensed attorney since October 2007.
