Job Title: Assistant Accountant

Report To: Finance Manager

Required Experience:

  • Management and statutory accounts preparation and reviews
  • Interaction with various stakeholders

Desirable Experience:

  • Experience with working in Xero
  • Working towards an ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualification
  • Accountancy practice or client practice environment preferable

Role Purpose: 

To ensure the efficient processing, accuracy and review of financial transactions and financial information in the portfolio of BSIF (client) companies

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review of management information/accounts (which is both outsourced to external accountants and prepared internally) for a portfolio of client companies.
  • Review of the yearend statutory accounts and tax computations as prepared by the outsourcing accountants for a portfolio of client companies.
  • Assist the Finance Manager in providing information to Bluefield's external accountants and service providers.
  • Supporting the Finance Manager with the preparation and review of VAT returns for a portfolio of client companies.
  • Dealing with queries on client companies accounts from external auditors.
  • Approve supplier payments for the client companies as prepared by the outsourcing accountants.
  • Assisting with general accounting and regulatory queries (e.g., VAT, Office of National Statistics, corporation tax, etc.).
  • Working closely with Asset Managers and Revenue Controller to ensure the timely submission of project generation data to Ofgem and taking responsibility for collection of revenue from the sale of electricity.
  • Assisting and preparing cost analysis sheets for the portfolio of client companies.
  • Assist the Finance Manager with Finance Due Diligence projects on potential acquisitions.
  • Support the onboarding process of new acquisitions.
  • Provide necessary support and assistance to the bookkeepers as required.
  • Maintain data security and confidentiality by using information within the parameters of the job role, any applicable SLAs, the company data policies and / or privacy notices and the statutory guidelines set out within the GDPR and any associated UK legislation with regard to any data for the client company accounts and Bluefield internal accounts.
  • Comply with all required fire, health and safety requirements for the environment in which you are working, including making yourself aware of the current applicable policies and risk assessments and acting accordingly, and attending any required training.
  • Any other reasonable task as requested by a Manager, Partner or Director of the business.

Interactions within Bluefield:

  1. Communicate as required within the finance team
  2. Provide information to the Portfolio team for reporting
  3. Collaborate with the Investment team regarding revenue agreements
  4. Provide information to and request information from the Asset Management team as required
  5. Liaise with the external accountants as required

Job Locations:

Bristol Central and occasional requirements to visit other Bluefield locations in the UK

Hours of Work:

Monday to Friday, 9-5:30pm with opportunities for hybrid working (Tuesday, Wednesday in office)
