Joel Hess

Joel Hess currently serves as the Health Safety Environment Coordinator at BlueScope Recycling and Materials since August 2023 and has an extensive background in emergency services as a firefighter with Cambridge Township Fire and Rescue since January 2007. Prior to this, Joel held the role of Health Safety Environment Coordinator at North Star BlueScope Steel from September 2012 to August 2023, contributing to environmental and safety initiatives as part of a dedicated team. An internship with Lenwee County Emergency Management in 2010 involved hazardous materials mapping and collaboration with various governmental agencies. Additional work experience includes a position as a General Cook/Cashier at Hattie's Pizza and Subs from 2005 to 2008, where Joel developed skills in customer relations and staff supervision. Joel's educational background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from Michigan State University and General Prerequisites from Jackson College.
