Alvaro Arcila has extensive work experience in the field of software engineering and development. Alvaro began their career as a Quality Assurance Specialist at Jewish Employment and Vocational Services in 2003, where they were responsible for developing and planning documentation for hardware and software upgrades. In 2005, they joined Philadelphia Workforce Development Corporation, where they served as a Senior Officer of Process Analysis. In this role, they developed web-based applications and automated processes using languages such as C# and ASP.Net.
In 2011, Arcila joined iPipeline as a Senior Associate Developer, where they maintained enterprise applications and developed tools for the existing solution in a client-server architecture. Alvaro also worked in an Agile environment using tools such as Target Process and Quality Center.
In 2014, Arcila joined Cox Automotive Inc. as a Senior Developer. Here, they designed, developed, maintained, and interfaced with complex web applications using ASP.Net, C#, JavaScript, jQuery, SQL, T-SQL, and PowerShell. Alvaro also designed and coded technical solutions for websites, web services, APIs, and other utilities according to business and technical requirements.
In 2017, Arcila joined FreedomPay as a Lead Software Engineer and Architect. In this role, they gathered and documented business requirements, led and supported multiple web development teams, and architected and designed aspects of the system. Alvaro also provided input into architecting the hardware environment, services platform, application platform, and database.
Most recently, Arcila became the Director of Software Engineering at BM Technologies, Inc. (BMTX) f/k/a BankMobile in 2019.
Alvaro Arcila has a Master of Science degree in Computer Science and Information Technology from Temple University, which they obtained from 1999 to 2001. Prior to that, they earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Temple University, completing it from 1997 to 1999. Alvaro began their academic journey at the Community College of Philadelphia, where they obtained an Associates Degree in Computer Science from 1993 to 1997. Alvaro has also pursued additional certifications in various IT disciplines, including AWS Developer Fundamentals, Architecting Highly Available Systems on AWS, Practical IoC With ASP.NET MVC 4, and Puppet Fundamentals for System Administrators, all obtained through Pluralsight.
