Bureau of Ocean Energy Management
Brad J. Blythe, Ph.D., currently serves as Chief of the Branch of Biological and Social Sciences at the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, overseeing a team of senior scientists and managing an annual research budget of approximately $35 million. With extensive experience in marine ecology, policy integration, and scientific integrity, Brad has held various positions at BOEM since 2008, including Acting Regional Director for the Pacific Region and Oceanographer. Prior roles include Presidential Management Fellow and research positions at the University of Georgia, where responsibilities encompassed conducting marine research and teaching. Academic qualifications include a Ph.D. in Marine Science from the University of Georgia and a BA in Marine Science & Biology from Coastal Carolina University.
