Brian Simmons P.E. has a diverse and extensive work experience in the engineering field. Brian began their career as a Surveyor/Project Representative at Hakanson Anderson Assoc. in 1999, where they worked until 2004. Brian then joined Lightowler Johnson as a Design Engineer in 2004 before transitioning to Bolton & Menk, Inc. in 2005. At Bolton & Menk, Brian initially served as a design intern before becoming a full-time Project Manager after graduating from NDSU in 2005. Brian has primarily focused on Municipal engineering projects, with a particular emphasis on various trenchless construction methods such as Cured-In-Place-Pipe rehabilitation, Pipe bursting, directional drilling, and slip lining. Brian is currently working at Bolton & Menk as a Principal Engineer, a role they have held since January 2017.

Brian Simmons P.E. holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Civil Engineering from North Dakota State University, which they obtained between 1999 and 2005. In addition to their academic qualifications, they have obtained various certifications throughout their career. In January 2011, they became a Professional Engineer certified by the Minnesota Board of Architecture, Engineering, Land Surveying, Landscape Architecture, Geoscience, and Interior Design. Brian also holds a Part 107 Certified Remote Pilot certification from the FAA, which they obtained in July 2017. Most recently, in April 2022, they became a Professional Engineer certified by the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors.
