David Colby

Principal Scientist at Bonum Therapeutics

David Colby has a strong background in scientific research and academia. David is currently working as a Principal Scientist at Bonum Therapeutics since September 2022. Prior to this role, they were a Principal Scientist at Good Therapeutics, Inc. from May 2022 to September 2022 and a Senior Scientist II from November 2020 to May 2022. Before joining Good Therapeutics, Inc., they were a Principal Scientist at A-Alpha Bio from August 2019 to July 2020.

Before transitioning to industry, David worked as a Scientific Consultant and Editor as a self-employed individual from September 2017 to July 2019. Prior to that, they held the position of Assistant Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of Delaware from 2010 to 2017. In this role, they developed and supervised a federally funded research program in biomolecular and cellular engineering. David successfully competed for multiple federal research grants and managed a team of up to 9 members.

David's academic career began with their role as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of California, San Francisco from 2005 to 2010. Here, they conducted research on protein misfolding, specifically working on prions under the mentorship of Stanley Prusiner, MD. Prior to their postdoctoral fellowship, David worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 2000 to 2005. David'sresearch focused on antibody engineering and biophysics under the guidance of Profs. K. Dane Wittrup and Vernon Ingram.

David Colby earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University, where they studied from 1995 to 2000. David then pursued further education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology between 2000 and 2005.
