David Vismans

SVP, Chief Product Officer at Booking.com

David Vismans is a Senior Vice President and Chief Product Officer at Booking.com. Within two months of joining the company in 2012, he was appointed to be Front End Director, with responsibility for all customer-facing product development on Booking.com’s website and mobile apps. As an invaluable product leader, he oversees global cross-platform product strategy for the company in its pursuits to pioneer innovations that enhance the consumer travel experience.

David brought to the company his extensive experience managing large, multidisciplinary software development teams with a focus on the design and implementation of agile processes that allow self-organising teams to deliver quality results to millions of users.

Before joining Booking.com, David spent four years in a number of senior positions with the Netherlands’ popular social media website, Hyves, including Head of Development, Chief Technical Officer and Director of Product Development. Hyves was bought by Dutch media and publishing group, Telegraaf Media Groep (TMG), in 2010. As part of the subsequent reorganisation of the company, David set up the 120-member product development team in the new TMG Online business unit.

Earlier in his career, David worked in Amsterdam with leading provider of GPS and navigation devices, TomTom. As Software Development Manager, he was responsible for the development of the tomtom.com website, online services such as Map Share, the company’s online route planner, and TomTom HOME.

Although he didn’t join Booking.com until 2012, David’s first contact with the company occured a full decade earlier when he founded HotelXChange. This was a generic platform for the publication of SEO optimised content over a network of 1,200 travel websites, where he operated as an affiliate partner of Booking.com.

David’s Master of Science degree is from the University of Amsterdam, where he specialised in the study of artificial intelligence. He has also undertaken a number of ongoing education projects including a programme on Achieving Strategic Agility at the London Business School.
