Darwing Lafaurie

Darwing Lafaurie has a diverse work experience spanning over 25 years. Darwing is currently the Head of Asset Care at Boral since 2023. Prior to that, from 2021 to 2023, they worked as a Maintenance and Engineering Manager at LIBERTY Steel Group, where they led various teams and implemented engineering projects and reliability improvement initiatives.

From 2015 to 2020, Darwing held two roles at Orica. Darwing worked as a Senior Manager Reliability, leading improvement programs across Orica's manufacturing business, and later as the Global Asset Manager in the Orica Mining Services Division. In the latter role, they developed and implemented the global Asset Management Strategy for various units, including Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMUs) and Downstream Manufacturing plants.

Before their time at Orica, Darwing worked at BHP Billiton Iron Ore as a Maintenance Systems Manager from 2010 to 2015. Darwing was responsible for developing and improving maintenance strategies, setting up asset master data, and implementing long-term maintenance planning.

From 2007 to 2010, Darwing Lafaurie was employed at Rio Tinto, where they served as a Maintenance Planning and Engineering Superintendent, leading a team and implementing work management processes. Darwing also worked as a Specialist Reliability Engineer, focusing on performance improvement projects for heavy mobile equipment and conducting life cycle cost analysis.

Darwing's career began at GECOLSA in 1996, where they worked as a Service Engineer, leading maintenance and repair activities for Caterpillar equipment in a coal mine. Darwing also handled root cause analysis and technical communication.

Prior to GECOLSA, Darwing worked at Cerrejón Colombia from 2001 to 2007, taking on roles such as Business Improvement Analyst, Maintenance Supervisor, and Reliability Engineer. Darwing utilized the Six Sigma methodology, managed maintenance in the main workshop for the mobile mining fleet, and conducted various analysis and monitoring activities for mobile equipment.

Overall, Darwing Lafaurie has a wealth of experience in maintenance, reliability, engineering, and asset management, working in various industries such as steel, mining, and manufacturing.

Darwing Lafaurie's education history begins in 1990 when they enrolled at Universidad del Norte to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Darwing successfully completed their degree in 1996.

In 2004, Darwing pursued further education at Universidad CEU San Pablo, where they obtained an MBA degree with a focus on Business and Strategic Leadership. This program lasted from 2004 to 2005.

Following their MBA, Darwing Lafaurie enrolled at The University of Western Australia in 2011 to pursue an Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA). This program concluded in 2012.

In 2016, Darwing participated in a Leadership Development Program at the University of Melbourne to enhance their skills in organizational leadership. This program lasted for the duration of 2016.

Darwing Lafaurie's educational journey continued from 2017 to 2023 at The University of Western Australia, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Business Administration and Management. Darwing achieved this degree in 2023.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Darwing Lafaurie obtained a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from Six Sigma Qualtec in January 2007.
