Claudia Colen is an experienced professional with a strong background in philanthropy, public health, and community development. Currently serving as the Institutional Giving Officer at Borealis Philanthropy since August 2022, Claudia also operates as the Business Owner of Arana Consulting, a position held since March 2017. Previous roles include Development Director and Grants Director at Unite Oregon from November 2017 to November 2022, and Health Equity Coordinator at Upstream Public Health from April 2011 to February 2017, where work focused on implementing systemic policy solutions for public health. Additional experience includes a managerial position at Gateway to College National Network, Policy Advocate for California Food Policy Advocates, Strategic Advisor for Community Development in the City of Seattle's Mayor's Office, and Constituent Services Representative for U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell. Claudia holds a Master of Public Administration in Social Policy from the University of Washington and a Bachelor of Arts from Duke University.

We educate grantmakers and non-profits organizations on the important role intermediaries play in the philanthropic sector, and endeavor to share our knowledge with the broader field. In carrying out this vision, we ultimately hope to change the way philanthropy works.
