Esa Arola

Esa Arola is a Lead Engineer in Innovation & Technology at Borealis, with a focus on renewable feedstocks, R&D project management, technical evaluation of pyrolysis oils, and support for petrochemical plants. Previously, Arola served as a Product Stewardship Specialist, ensuring chemical compliance and training colleagues on EU waste laws. Experience includes roles as Plant Design Engineer at Nordic Bioproducts Group, where responsibilities encompassed process scale-up, and various trainee positions at Borealis and Boliden, emphasizing production engineering and safety. Arola holds a Master of Science in Chemical and Process Engineering and a Bachelor of Science in Bio and Chemical Technology from Aalto University, complemented by studies at the Technical University of Denmark. Notably, Arola's master's thesis earned the top grade and recognition as the best thesis in the Borealis Student Innovation Awards 2020-2021.
