Louis Desal

Louis Desal has over 30 years of work experience in the chemicals industry. Louis has held various roles in different companies, including Borealis, Borouge, Exxon Chemicals, and ICI Polyurethanes. Currently, they are the SVP Operations Polyolefins at Borealis since 2023. Prior to that, they served as the SVP Operations at Borouge from 2017 to 2023. Their work experience at Borealis includes roles such as SVP Operations Base Chemicals, VP Operations Base Chemicals, Vice President Operations/Asset Development Melamine & Fertilizer, Asset & Technical Development Manager, Operations Manager/Location Leader, HSE&Q Manager/Process Safety Platform Leader, and Plant Manager. Before joining Borealis, they worked at Exxon Chemicals as a Pilot Plant Reactive Extrusion team member, and at ICI Polyurethanes as an R&D Lab Technician.

Louis Desal earned an MBA in International Strategic Management from Johannes Kepler Universität Linz and Limak Business School from 2008 to 2010. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Science (MSc) in Industrial Chemistry from HOWEST Hogeschool West-Vlaanderen from 1978 to 1982. Their education journey started at Vrije Middelbare School from 1972 to 1978.
