Julian Ryde

Julian Ryde is a seasoned Principal Computer Vision Engineer at Boston Dynamics since April 2021, with extensive experience in intelligent robotic systems and autonomous perception. Prior roles include Principal Engineer and Staff Research Engineer at Raytheon Technologies, where significant contributions included leading projects in mobile autonomous systems and managing a research team. As Chief Scientist and Co-Founder of a construction automation startup, Julian pioneered automation of construction vehicles utilizing ROS and Python. A history of academic involvement includes positions as a Research Assistant Professor at the University at Buffalo and a Post Doctoral Fellow at CSIRO, complemented by a PhD in Mobile Robotics from the University of Essex. Julian possesses a diverse technical background, evidenced by multiple publications, patent applications, and successful funding efforts.
