Gareth Morgan is a Research Assistant Professor at Boston University School of Medicine since October 2018, focusing on the molecular basis and therapeutic development for systemic amyloidosis at the BU Amyloidosis Center. Previously, Gareth served as a Senior Staff Scientist at The Scripps Research Institute from January 2011 to October 2018, studying the development of amyloidosis and exploring potential interventions, following postdoctoral work on protein folding and cellular stress management. Gareth's academic journey includes postdoctoral research at the University of Michigan and the University of Leeds, where contributions involved protein folding in the Astbury Centre for Structural Molecular Biology. Gareth earned a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Sheffield (2002-2006) and a BSc in Biochemistry from Imperial College London (1998-2001). Prior to academia, Gareth worked as a freelance rock climbing instructor from October 2001 to May 2007.
