Karen Antman serves as the Provost of the Medical Campus and Dean of the School of Medicine at Boston University, a position held since 2005, overseeing three schools and managing approximately $300 million in annual research funding. Prior experience includes serving as the Deputy Director for Translational & Clinical Sciences at the National Cancer Institute from 2003 to 2005, and as a Professor of Medicine & Pharmacology and Director of the Herbert Irving Cancer Center at Columbia University from 1993 to 2003. Antman's early career includes a role at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute where responsibilities progressed from Fellow to Associate Professor of Medicine. Antman holds an MD in Medicine from Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons, completed between 1970 and 1974.
