Tom Proud has a diverse work experience, starting their career as an Associate Director of Bands in the Oswego City School District in 2001. Tom then transitioned to become the Director of Bands and Assistant Director of Bands in Cobb County Schools from 2003 to 2006. Tom then entered the pharmaceutical industry, working as a Professional Sales Representative for Publicis Selling Solutions from 2006 to 2007, where they achieved exceptional performance by transforming a low-performing territory into one of the top 10% in growth and goal attainment. Tom continued their sales career at Takeda Pharmaceuticals from 2007 to 2010, specializing in the successful sales of the Actos Family and Dexilant to various medical offices. Tom then joined Valeant Pharmaceuticals as a Professional Sales Representative from 2010 to 2012, focusing on specialty dermatology sales. Afterward, they worked at Myriad Genetics from 2013 to 2019 as a Product Consultant, specializing in the sales of genomic molecular and genetic tests for prostate cancer and hereditary cancer. Recently, Tom has been employed at Guardant Health as a Senior Account Executive from 2019 to 2022. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Strategic Account Manager at BostonGene since 2022.

Tom Proud obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Music Education from Duquesne University, where they studied from 1997 to 2001. After completing their undergraduate education, they pursued a Master's Degree in Music at Southern Oregon University from 2003 to 2005. Later, Tom went on to pursue an MBA with a concentration in Marketing at Georgia State University - J. Mack Robinson College of Business from 2005 to 2009. In addition to their formal education, Tom has also obtained several certifications, including "Leading Productive Meetings," "Make the Move from Individual Contributor to Manager," "New Manager Foundations," "Onboarding New Hires as a Manager," "Coaching and Developing Employees," and "Using Questions to Foster Critical Thinking and Curiosity," all from LinkedIn, which they obtained in January and February of 2022.
